The Institute for the Study of the Americas (ISA) occupies a unique position at the core of academic study of the region in the UK. Internationally recognised as a centre of excellence for research and research facilitation, ISA also provides resources to the wider academic community, serving and strengthening national networks of North Americanist, Latin Americanist and Caribbeanist scholars. The Institute actively maintains and builds ties with cultural, diplomatic and business organisations with interests in the Americas and, as part of the School of Advanced Study within the University of London, benefits from academic opportunities, facilities and stimulation across and between a wide range of subject fields in the humanities and social sciences.
The Institute provides excellent opportunities for postgraduate study, including a wide range of Master's and Research degree programmes.
As a student at ISA, you will be able to take advantage of tuition by world-leading scholars in an academic environment designed to be at the cutting edge of research in the humanities and social sciences. We encourage comparative and interdisciplinary debate, and with small class sizes and access to a library of nearly 3 million volumes, we have the facilities that will enable you to fulfill your potential. Our programme of events each year gives you free access to the best academic minds of the UK and beyond. We are proud that our alumni use their skills and knowledge to find employment in government, business, journalism, finance and international NGOs.
